3 weeks OLD

Our Boy is 3 weeks old today:-)!!! What a 3 weeks it has been......we feel like it has been alot longer than just 3 weeks.  Regardless, Brody is doing well, with a few small hiccups...nothing big, he did get put back on some oxygen because his numbers were a bit low...so better safe:-) Nurses have been working on his feeds, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't....Brody lets us know if something isn't working:-) We are fortifying breast milk with high calorie formula to help him grow. Heart babies hearts work twice as hard as ours so they burn twice as many calories...so his food needs to be high calorie so he can gain weight. One of the formulas they tried he DID NOT like and ended up spitting it all up so they just changed to a different high calorie formula which at the moment he seems to be tolerating. We have a home health provider that supplies us with all of the medical equipment that he will need once he is home, so we have been working on using all our our own equipment in the hospital so when we do go home the transition will be easier. We have a feeding pump called a Kangaroo Joey..basically will just pump his food through his NG tube ( little tube in his nose that goes into his belly) hopefully he will outgrow this sooner than later, but again for Brody to eat is exercise and they don't want him expending more calories than what he is taking inn so that is why they are just feeding him through the tube. He is allowed to bottle feed 3-4 times a day but really in not interested in the bottle right now...so hopefully once were home he will become more interested!!  We are still hoping to come home this week....so please keep up the prayers for our Boy and our Girl Charli...she is definitely having to adjust to all the changes. All of our family say's how good she is with them..BUT once she is around us she is definitely harder to handle and requires ALOT MORE PATIENCE than ever before!! We love her and are working thought it all...small potatoes I say...  Love to all....

  1. So happy to see Brody is coming along so well. Feel bad for Charli, but once You get home, hopefully she will have some kind of normal back to her little life. Hugs to Charli. I also can't believe it has been 3 weeks, it seems like months, with all the worry and prayers. Thank You so much for the update, You look gorgeous kissing that sweet little baby. Keeping all of You in my thoughts and prayers.
    Love to all, Vivian Lynn
